The 9th International Conference of the Linguistic Association of Pakistan (ICLAP 2023) will be held on 13-15 December 2023. The Department of Applied Linguistics at Government College University Faisalabad in collaboration with Englishers will host this edition of the conference. The central theme of the conference is Navigating the nexus of language, linguistics, literature and technology in 21st century. The program of the conference will include invited speeches, paper presentations, workshops and panel discussions.
Researchers are invited to submit abstracts of their papers on original and unpublished research work on any aspect of theoretical or applied linguistics for presentation in the conference by Sat, 18 Nov 2023 via CMT - Conference Management Toolkit. Abstracts should be written in English and the size of an abstract should not exceed 350 words excluding title, keywords and references. Please follow the Guidelines for Abstracts, given on the webpage.
All abstracts accepted for presentation will be published in the conference book. To submit an abstract you should have a CMT account. After logging into your account, open the submission link of the conference given above and click the button labelled +Create new submission in the top left corner. In case of any difficulty in creating your account or submitting your abstract via the online submission system, you may seek help by writing an email to iclap2023@gmail.com or calling the contact persons. Please make sure to include the following information (in the given order) in your abstract:
1. The tilte of your paper: The words in the title should be initially capitalized and thier number should not exceed 12.
2. Author name(s), affiliation(s) and emial ID(s)
3. Body of the abstract: Body of the abstarct should not exceed 350 words, covering the following:
a) Background/Introduction
b) Problem
c) Research objective/purpose/question
d) Scope/limitations
e) Methodology [design/approach/instruments/procedure]
f) Results/findings/conclusions
g) Implications/beneficiaries
4. All paragraphs should be left- and right-justified with font TimesNewRoman, font size 12 and the line spacing 1.
5. Keywords: Their number should not exceed 6
6. References: Minimum 2 references are required and the maximum limit is 5. The APA citation style should be followed preferably.
The abstracts not conforming to the above guidelines may not be considered for review.
ICLAP 2023 seeks proposals to conduct tutorials/workshops on any topic of language, linguistics, and the related fields. Workshops would be of either one slot (1.5 hrs) or two slots. Workshop proposals should preferably cover the advanced topics in the field.
Proposals of Workshops should be submitted by electronic mail, in pdf form, to iclap2023@gmail.com by Mon, Sep 4, 2023. The subject line of the email should read: 'Workshop Proposal for ICLAP 2023'. The proposal should contain:
Workshop title
Brief description of the workshop contents and its relevance to the language/linguistics community (not more than 1 page)
Brief outline of the workshop structure showing that the contents will be covered in the allocated time slot
Characterization of the potential target audience for the workshop
The names, postal addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses of the workshop instructors, including a one-paragraph statement of their research interests and areas of expertise
A list of previous venues, if the same or a similar workshop has been conducted elsewhere
A description of special requirements for technical equipment (e.g., internet access)

The conference organizers seek sponsorships for print matter, food items, boarding/lodging of the speakers and cultural show during the event. The organizations willing to sponsor or participate as exhibitors are requested to contact the convener of the conference via email at iclap2023@gmail.com.
Q1. Can an author submit more than one abstract?
A1. Yes, more than one abstract could be submitted by an author. However, maximum three accepted abstracts of an author will be included in the program: one abstract with his/her name as a first author and the other two abstracts with his/her name as a co-author.
Q2. If two or three abstracts of an author are accepted, one as a first author and the others as a co-author, can (s)he present them all with a single registration fee.
A2. An author would have to pay the registration fee only once. To present two (or three) abstracts, however, at least two (or three) distinct authors must register for the conference.
Q3. Do all authors of a paper need to pay the registration fee separately?
A3. At least one author must register for the conference to present the paper.
Q4. Can the co-authors attend the conference without getting registered?
A4. Only the registered authors/participants can attend the conference.
Q5. Will the co-authors get the certificates without getting registered and/or attending the conference.
A5. The certificates of presentation will be issued only to the registered authors provided their paper is presented in the conference.
Q6. Can authors opt for the mode of presentation i.e., poster or oral?
A6. No, the organizing committee decides the mode of presentation.
Q7. If a registered participant can't make it to attend the conference, will the registration fee be returned to him/her?
A7. No, the registration fee can't be claimed back.
Q8. If the family members and/or the friends of a participant want to attend the conference, do they also need to get registered?
A8. Yes, all accompanying persons also need to get registered.
Q9. Will the participants of the conference be provided traveling allowance?
A9. The participants of the conference, both presenters and observers, will bear the traveling expenses by themselves.
Q10. Will the participants of the conference be provided accommodation?
A10. The organizers would only identify some economical options for staying in the city around the university during the conference days. The expenses of accommodation, however, would be paid by the participants themselves.

You have to register to present and/or attend the conference. The conference registration includes entry to all sessions of the conference, print materials and refreshments during the conference. Every attending member from among the presenters and/or observers will have to register. Please note maximum one accepted paper with the same first author would be included in the program and only one accepted paper against one registered author would have a slot in the program. Authors with multiple submissions should take this point into consideration.

You are required to deposit the registration fee through Bank Transfer or Online/Internet Transfer or via ATM Transaction in the first step. While making an ATM transaction, make sure that the machine will generate the printed receipt of your transaction. In the second step you would fill out the registration form by typing data in different fields and inserting your photograph and copy of the deposit receipt.
The registration forms without a clear copy of the deposit receipt would not be considered for processing. After successful processing of your registration application, your name would be included in the List of Reg. Participants.
Please note payment of the registration fee does not mean that the organizers would provide you any accommodation or traveling facility in return. The host would however only indicate some economical accommodation options in the city before the conference.
